Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius wrote:
Not to rouse pity, not to win sympathy or admiration. Only this:
Detaching ourselves from our work is difficult, especially when you put your skin on it. We feel judged when our work is judged. What else! A good chunk of our soul is there. But we must always remember that our work is something else. We show up everyday, we give our best shot, we learn, we rest. Repeat.
I must remember to keep a safety distance, in the bad moments, and especially in the good ones. Distorted emotions feed our ego, so I'll keep my vows. At work, only this:
See you next week!
