Shadowlands

"In the depths of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer", wrote Albert Camus.

In the shadowlands of grief, or pain, or insecurity it´s hard to see clearly. It´s all dark in there. The clouds won´t let you see much, but yes there lay an invincible sun above.

If you focus hard, you can hear it, though. It whispers "adiós, mamá" at night; you can hear the laugh in front of some beers; it invites you to a barbecue; it buys you a silly present; it sparks with a good idea; it always, in the end, tries (perhaps not good enough, but in its way, it is trying.)

Beware, though, of the siren songs of distraction and numbness. You cannot run your way out of the shadowlands, you have to push through the clouds. In the seminal movie, C.S. Lewis says something along these lines: "I have no answers anymore, only the life that I´ve lived. We can´t have the happiness of yesterday without the pain of today. That´s the deal." That is the deal, ands it is a good one. Just listen carefully to know where to go.

Seems like my sun is calling now, and not a whisper, but a loud and clear "McQueen!". Time to leave, then.
